About Us
Lutrium is a small online shop for lighting and home decor. We started it in 2026, so we're new, and we'd rather say that up front.

Where the name comes from
Lutrium is made from two Latin words. The first is lux, light, the root behind words like lumen, lucid and illuminate. The second is atrium, the central room of a Roman house.
The atrium was where a Roman home began. Guests were welcomed there, the family gathered there, and it was where the house kept its hearth and its most treasured objects. Its roof had an opening in the middle, the compluvium, so daylight fell straight into the heart of the house. Some ancient writers even believed the word came from ater, black, because hearth smoke once darkened its walls. Either way, it was the room where light and home met.
That's the idea behind the name: light, at the centre of a home. Lu from lux, trium from atrium. It's also why the little house sits in our logo.

Most of what we sell is lighting, and that's on purpose. You can repaint a room or buy a new sofa, but if the light is wrong the room still feels off. A good lamp in the right corner changes a space more than almost anything else you can buy for the same money. The clocks, kitchen pieces and decor came later, and we choose them the same way.
Interior design matters to us, though not the showroom kind. We like rooms that look lived in: a lamp next to a pile of books, a clock you actually check, a warm light left on for when you get home in the evening. That's the home we have in mind whenever we add something new.

We don't make these pieces ourselves. We pick them from suppliers, and we're fussy about it. If something doesn't look right to us, or we can't describe it honestly, it doesn't go on the site. If we find a problem with a listing later, we take it down.
Because we're small, when you write to us you're writing to real people, and we read everything. If an order arrives damaged or isn't what you expected, get in touch and we'll work it out with you. The exact terms are in our Refund Policy.
And if you're not sure about a size, or which light would suit your room, ask us before you order. We're happy to help.
